Shaun's Net Tribute to the World Class American Gymnast

Only 182 days until Kerri's 35th birthday!

Kerri analyzed Olympic gymnastics for Yahoo! Sports.   Check it out!
Kerri Strug
An Olympic Legend was born on 23 July 1996! In case you haven't already heard, Kerri Strug, my favorite gymnast since the '92 Olympic Games, needed to perform a vault - on a severely sprained ankle with two torn ligaments. With the weight of a nation resting on her shoulders, she ran down the runway and did her vault. She stuck the landing, injuring her ankle even further! Basically standing on one leg, and wincing in pain with tears starting to fall, she posed for the judges before she collapsed. In a single moment, she showed the world the meaning of courage, bravery, desire, strength, and selflessness, and personified the ideals of the Olympic spirit! She sacrificed herself to ensure the Gold Medal for the team - the first ever for U.S. Women's Gymnastics! I couldn't be prouder! Somehow I always knew she was destined for greatness; I just never knew when or how it would manifest itself. Now I know, as does the entire world! An Olympic Legend was born on 23 July 1996!

Note to the old IRC Gang of Kerri fans: I really miss you guys, and I have many fond memories of all the fun conversations we used to have.   I hope you are all doing well.
